Top picks for day trips: get the wind in your hair without going you too far from home
- The “Big Tree” aka “Big Burr Oak” aka McBaine Burr Oak – You can find this gem of a spot just south of Columbia. It’s a quick trip that’s an easy, quick drive with a naturally beautiful destination.
- Glasgow, MO – Beckett’s Winery and Restaurant. This ride takes about an hour (one way) and includes gorgeous scenery on the way and a delicious destination once you arrive.
- If you’re looking for more of a journey rather than a destination this one is for you: from Columbia take VV to Dripping Springs to YY then get onto HWY 124 towards Harrisburg then head back to Columbia going south on Route E. This is a nice, curvy ride with lots of trees. Takes 1-1.5 hours but can be made longer depending on your pace.
