Meet the owner, matt gilbane
Motorcycles have been in my blood since I was 5 years old, starting with a dirtbike my older brother got. I love the wide range of motorcycles we see, and the people that ride them. Every day is a new experience.
There's nothing like bringing a customer's creative vision to life through a custom build, or transforming a broken machine back into someone's dream ride. This business has been more than a motorcycle shop—it's allowed me to raise my family in a community I love while supporting local charities, youth sports teams, and families in need. Watching my team grow and flourish alongside their own families makes the stresses of business ownership all worthwhile.
Our mission is to deliver quality service
Matt founded Gilbane Motorsports in March of 2014 to provide service and repair to a variety of motorcycles including Harley-Davidson, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Indian, Victory, BMW, Ducati, KTM, etc. We wanted to be a reputable, reliable, local and friendly shop that was comfortable for all motorcycle riders, not just the traditional “Harley rider.” Though Harleys are what we are known for, we also service just about any name brand motorcycle.
We strive to ensure the very best experience for each and every customer. From motorcycle repair or service to our extensive sales inventory, we appreciate each and every patron who entrusts us with their vehicle experience.
Meet the Team behind gilbane motorsports
Blake
My first time on two wheels wasn’t until I was 20 years old. Quickly I developed a passion for riding, and the industry that surrounds it. In 2022 I graduated from MMI in Orlando, FL with a certification for Harley Davidson. Since then I have worked with dealerships that work on and sell Harley Davidson’s, as well as working on my own bikes at home. If the sun is shining, I enjoy riding my Dyna and playing an occasional round of golf.
Caden
I grew up in Mexico, MO. My dad bought me my first dirt bike, a KX65, at the age of 5 and I’ve been riding ever since. After high school I went to Phoenix to attend MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute). I graduated from MMI and moved to Colorado where I worked at Wildwest Motorsports on both Harley and metric motorcycles. It was there that I met my girlfriend Lauren and we have been together ever since. I moved back to mid-Missouri to be closer to family and continue my career as a professional mechanic. In my free time I enjoy bringing old bikes back to life and playing with my dog Ryder who also happens to ride motorcycles!
Chris
I got my start in the motorcycle industry in 2013 after enrolling in a Harley-Davidson motorcycle technician’s program. I’ve worked in the Harley service and parts industry ever since, both for dealerships and major aftermarket parts manufacturers/distributors. Although I love all makes and models, Harleys are my specialty – I currently own four in various stages of customization/repair: a ’16 Softail, an ’86 FXR, a ’99 XL1200 and a ’01 XL883. I’ve been a familiar face around the shop for many years, working with Matt in various capacities in my other industry jobs. In March of 2024, I had the opportunity to join the Gilbane Motorsports crew permanently, and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of such a passionate and dedicated crew.
My wife, Leslie, and I love taking the bikes out and riding backroads and country highways. When we’re not doing that, you can probably find us hanging out with our three dogs, watching movies or discovering new music.
Corey
I grew up surrounded by motorcycles and watching my dad wrench on his old Pan-Shovel chopper. By 15, I had my motorcycle permit and was riding every chance I got before shipping off to the Navy. When I got out, the first thing I bought was a custom Softail—and I’ve been riding ever since. Bikes are a part of who I am, and I couldn’t have picked a job I enjoy more than this one. Two wheels or nothing, baby!
In Memory of Skylar Maddox
Skylar started with us in April of 2021. Skylar was young and eager and wanted to know everything. He was the light of any party and was a blast to have around the shop. We sadly lost Skylar November 30, 2021 to an impaired driver that crossed into his lane. Gone, but never forgotten.
Our Vision for the Future
Gilbane Motorsports' primary goal is to keep central Missouri riding. We specialize in late model Harley Davidson routine service, repairs and accessories, although we do also maintain most all metric brands as well. We have the largest tire inventory in central Missouri, we stock more new parts than any other aftermarket shop in town, and we strive to keep up with the ever changing industry. Since March 1, 2014, we have continued to grow every month, and we strive every day to expand and grow our customer base, our industry knowledge, and improving the community in which we live.
In 2025, we expanded our showroom, became the first dealer in Mid-MO for HiSun Motors ATVs/UTVs, and held our first Summer Block Party to celebrate our community and our customers. Just like the town of Columbia, we continue to grow and remain committed to bringing you the latest, newest and best of what the motorcycle industry has to offer. We are a Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited dealer, Wester Powersports, V-Twin Manufacturing, Turn 14, HHI, and the list goes on an on dealer.
